No – it’s not the storied highway. http://www.historic66.com It’s my 66th birthday today! I was glad to “be alive at 65” but now it is uphill all the way. Actually it feels like an uphill climb many days, but it’s all good. And what are my insights on this auspicious occasion?
The numbers of your age do not correlate with your state of mind. Still in my 30’s, I’m shocked that I don’t appear as I picture myself. The mirror provides a reality check, but I’ve never been content with “present reality” as I always strive toward the future. My level of positivity is getting stronger as I progress UP the path of life. Notice that I am moving up not down, which indicates my eternal optimistic attitude. Another trait I value and try to share with others at all times – especially those prone to negativity. I feel compelled to reshape conversations that have a “down” tone to one of upbeat positivity, for their wellbeing and mine. I’ve been told by others that they feel better when they are around me. Must be because a positive attitude is a more pleasant and useful energy force than a negative attitude. Check out what Will Smith says. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oENmXKKlCAI
Risk-taking is getting easier. I have caught the fever of real estate investing in income generating properties, and having had some success with this, I want more. It does mean putting everything on the line when pursuing an even bigger investment, but I keep thinking, so what! If I lost everything today, I am still resourceful, resilient and persistent, and will bounce back as I have always done. So why stop now? Change your perspective and you can change your mind-set. Lately with all the cries of financial collapse and fear running rampant, it is definitely an effort to resist the addiction of immersing myself in the news feeds and the scare tactics of the media. At least I have the awareness that I have control over what I let in and how I can manage my life and my attitude. I refuse to get caught up in all that so I diffuse it with detachment from electronics and attachment to nature. My perspective is much different when I pick weeds and mow grass than it is when I am parked in front of the TV. If I want to live long and healthy, connecting with nature will sustain me more than the release of stress hormones that comes from watching the news. http://www.nwf.orghttp://www.nwf.org/Get-Outside/Be-Out-There/Why-Be-Out-There/Benefits.aspx
Follow the path of least resistance and life gets better. Working “hard” has always been my motto, but there are moments when I work with ease and flow, and it seems I am able to get more accomplished in this state. What a great way to determine if you are on the right path. Listen to your body and pay attention to your mind. And is what you are doing fun? Check out the book Path of Least Resistance by Robert Fritz. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0449903370/robertfritzinc/104–3216446-2167965 The best thing I did when I quit my “day job” and started working for myself was to be able to make choices of what I would do next based on what felt good. I did this intuitively at first, but now I have the work of Abraham by my side with the Emotional Guidance Scale to provide a gauge to follow. http://youtu.be/bmhaAONKBbI
Stay connected! Married for 43 years and still seeing my husband as my best friend and business partner tells me that I know how to do this. Having my oldest friend from my early years call me today and talk for 2 hours just like we were never apart is priceless. Going to Jazzercise classes regularly for over 20 years and seeing many of the same people do the same thing is a powerful and healthy connection in many ways. And we are all still alive and supportive of one another. Fabulous!
So I have been on the planet for ONLY 66 years – and heading for another great 66. Looks like this wellness thing really does bring results!
Be well on YOUR wellness journey.
